STANDARD EQUIPMENT

STANDARD EQUIPMENT ⏣

Standard Equipment is a contemporary design studio based in Toronto that focuses on distinctly industrial, utilitarian furniture and home goods.

The Brand

OBJECTIVE

To position Standard Equipment as a dynamic lifestyle brand rather than a static furniture manufacturer. The goal was to use exclusive, limited-run merchandise to create a fluid counterpoint to the brand's rigid core identity. This strategy demonstrates that the brand extends far beyond the living room, highlighting not just the objects themselves, but how different individuals bring them to life.

OUTCOME

I followed one of Standard Equipment's main ideologies: using standard materials to create non-standard items. I utilized the brand’s core hardware—hex nuts, hex bolts, washers, and branded silicone washers—to visually reconstruct the form of each product. This process established a graphic language that bridges industrial precision with artistic expression, successfully contextualizing the brand within a broader culture.
